Hello!
So 2014 is almost over and instead of writing a big long boring post about it I decided to do one of those end of the year questionnaire things instead! Also hopefully soon I will be posting a blog about what I've been up to lately (like Christmas) so if you want to see all my pictures of ALL THE PRETTY CHRISTMAS LIGHTS watch out for that
What did you do in 2014 that you’d never done before?
Moved to Japan, seen a proper concert, seen my all-time favourite celebrity in person, spent a night in the ERDid anyone close to you die?
Yes, my grandma in FebruaryWhat countries did you visit?
Canada (lived), Japan (lived), Hong Kong, USA (California, Washington, Hawaii)What would you like to have in 2015 that you lacked in 2014?
Motivation, since I lost it all in 2014What date from 2014 will remain etched upon your memory?
11 September 2014: The day I moved to Japan
28 October 2014: The day I saw Koyama for the first timeWhat was your biggest achievement of the year?
Not failing any courses (after the year I had, believe me, that is a huge achievement), finally achieving my lifelong dream of living in JapanWhat was your biggest failure?
Doing awful in majority of my classes at UBC, the aforementioned night spent in the ERDid you suffer illness or injury?
The regular depression and anxiety stuff (well worse than "regular"), I got sick for the first time in like 3 years (and it was influenza too) the day after my birthday and got pink eye along with it, and as for injury I don't think I had any? Definitely none that got me in the hospital or anything. What was the best thing you bought?
WELL I'VE JUST BOUGHT SO MUCH. Picking one thing is difficult uhhh...maybe my iPad? Back in Vancouver I never saw the use in getting a tablet but now I'm getting so much use out of it and it saves my life so much when it comes to directionsWhere did most of your money go?
Not gonna lie, I've bought some pretty pointless stuff. Clothes and electronics took up a lot of my money, but then stuff like random character goods and television stuff and idol stuff took up more probably. Aside from that, university tuition and all that.Compared to this time last year, are you:
1. Happier or sadder? HappierHow did you spend Christmas?
2. Thinner or fatter? I have no idea, probably about the same
3. Richer or poorer? Poorer in a way, but also richer because of that JASSO scholarship I get every month
Since Christmas is not a big deal in Japan in the slightest, I didn't do much. I met up with my friend Kailey and went to Harajuku and bought some idol stuff (MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME) and ate waffles. (and my all time favourite band NEWS announced they were finally going to do a tour, BEST CHRISTMAS EVER)Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
I don't talk on the phone much at all, but if we count Skype it'd probably be my brother Michael. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 20 this year and I celebrated it for 3 days: on the 11th (the day before my birthday) I went to NTV yet again to go see Koyama, Kihara, and Sorajiro by myself, then on the 12th (my actual birthday) I had school so I did that and then after went to NTV /again/, but on Fridays Koyama doesn't do the news so I didn't go for him, I just wanted to be in my favourite place on my birthday. While there I managed to see Kihara and Sorajiro again too so I spent my birthday with them two days in a row. Then I got my birthday dinner from Family Mart and ate outside in the cold next to NTV and afterwards went to Tokyo Tower just to stare at it. Then on the 13th my host family had a party for me at home where we just ate lots of stuff and they gave me presents (they got me some really cute pyjamas, a pencil, and a pencil case, bless their souls) and a cake and all that and it was nice. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
If I didn't have to deal with mental health issues. Also if I had a pug.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2014?
Typical "asian" style clothes (i.e. what you see majority of Japanese women wearing at the moment). I started wearing lots of dresses this year too. What kept you sane?
idols!!!! Or maybe those made me insane.Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
SO MANY (as usual). Mainly Koyama Keiichiro (everyone knows this already), Nishijima Takahiro, Sueyoshi Shuta, Atae ShinjiroTell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2014.
99% of men are creepy and do not even think about dating anybody until you are 25+ (I have met so many super creepy guys here, it is ridiculous), & if you try hard enough you can see your favourite celebrity (the most important lesson)Did you make new friends?
So many! Meeting lots of people over here in JapanDid you break old relationships?
Not voluntarily, but yeah.(by relationship I mean friendship)What’s one thing on your purchasing wishlist for 2015?
a new compact digital camera - the one I have is from like 2008 and is horribly broken (I have been using my iPad as a camera and it is awful quality)What is one change you want to make next year?
Make a budget, take better care of myself
So that's it!
About 3/4 of 2014 was pretty awful for me, but these past 4 months have really made up for that. I have high hopes for 2015
Okay, gonna start writing this post about what I've been doing for Christmas!
